Intrusive Surveys

Detailed structural intrusive surveys examining concealed building elements. Drilling through cladding, concrete, and plasterboard using IRATA rope access.

Intrusive Surveys (Detailed Structural Investigation)

An intrusive survey is a detailed structural investigation designed to examine concealed or hidden elements within a building. At iRopeAccess, we perform intrusive surveys through compressed mineral wool, plasterboard, concrete, cladding, soft panels, and balconies, using rope access and abseiling techniques to safely reach both internal and external areas at any height.

Our IRATA-certified technicians specialise in drilling, opening, and removing facade elements to expose what is behind walls, ceilings, or cladding systems. Each inspection is carried out with precision, ensuring every drilled point or removed panel is properly reinstated and sealed afterwards.

Why Choose an Intrusive Survey?

Unlike visual inspections, an intrusive survey allows us to physically open up and inspect internal layers of the structure -- including insulation, fixings, reinforcement, and waterproof membranes -- to identify corrosion, water ingress, or hidden damage.

Our Intrusive Survey Services:

  • Cladding removal and drilling to inspect substructures
  • Controlled drilling through concrete slabs and plasterboard
  • Compressed mineral wool and soft panel investigation
  • Balcony and external envelope surveys
  • Internal and external targeted drilling surveys
  • Full photographic documentation and reporting

Our Process:

  1. Planning and Safety Assessment
  2. Setup and Rigging -- IRATA-certified rope systems
  3. Drilling or Removal -- Controlled work per engineer specifications
  4. Documentation and Testing -- Full photographic and written report
  5. Make Good and Seal -- All penetrations reinstated and weatherproofed
